Join us for a five-course dinner on Monday, February 5, 2023, at 5:30pm prepared by Guest Chef Jason Boyer and Ambrosia’s Tyler Schmalz and paired with wines from Fattoria di Petroio Vineyards, a vineyard nestled in the heart of Tuscay’s Chianti Hills. We are in for a special treat, as Diana Lenzi, the owner of Fattoria di Petroio Vineyards will be here from Italy to represent the wines from her winery!
Fattoria di Petroio Vineyards is a family wine estate with a rich history. In medieval times it was a strategic location on the ancient road between Siena and Florence. In fact, the road passes directly in front of the main villa and consequently “put Petroio on the map”. The first known owner of the property was Luigi Pallini in the eighteen hundreds, but relics from much earlier provide a glimpse into the land’s inhabitants long before. Gian Luigi Lenzi inherited the estate from his grandfather Luigi Pallini II in 1961 and, with lots of hard work he and his wife Pamela transformed the rural farm into a renewed, modern high-quality winery.
The family legacy continues today with Diana Lenzi, the daughter of Gian Luigi and Pamela, at the helm of the Estate. She leads with dedication, energy, heart, and passion to oversee 15 hectares of vineyards, that produce a yearly average of 35,000 bottles of traditional, territorial, Chianti Classico; 4,000 bottles of Chianti Classico Riserva and 5,000 bottles of fresh, readily drinkable Poggio al Mandorlo Rosso Toscano. We are thrilled to have her in person at the wine dinner and hear about the inspiration, techniques, and rich history of her wines.
Guest Chef Jason Boyer is a local Eugene chef and UO alum. He has been a restauranteur for 30 years and is currently a restaurant consultant. He’s married with three kids and spends his free time as Kidsports coach and Food for Lane County volunteer. And before all of this, Jason was part of Ambrosia’s culinary team — we are thrilled to welcome him as our Guest Chef for this event!
Tood Bacon and Melissa Gray from Republic National Importing Company will also attend to represent the wines. They are both experts in Italian wines and will be on hand to present information about the wines, answer any questions you might have—and perhaps share a story or two.
